A few days before the Presidential Elections, coronavirus cases peaked in the United States, reaching a new record high in the number of daily infections. Statistics reveal that there was a weekly average of 23.0 infections per 100,000 residents, setting a new single-day record on October 23 with 83,757 new coronavirus cases. Reported infections imply that there will be a third wave of the pandemic, as the weather becomes colder. Although there have been promising trials of vaccine development, cases are predicted to surpass the rate of infections during the summer.
